I’m pumping milk how much should my baby supposed to drink while I’m at work? My baby is 7 weeks old.. And as they get bigger how much should they drink
Hope your adjustment back to work is going smoothly.
Unfortunately, there is no black and white answer for exactly how much breast milk your daughter should be consuming. In general, at 7 weeks, she should be consuming between 3 and 4 ounces every 2-3 hours. This is quite a range, I know, but should serve as a guideline. During growth spurts, she might want to feed more frequently, or she might drink more than usual at a particular feeding.
You will know that she is getting enough at each feeding if:
1. She seems relaxed and satisfied after eating.
2. She continues to gain weight. At this point, she should be gaining 5 to 8 ounces per week.
3. She has approximately 3 messy diapers (bowel movements) each day, and at least 5 wet diapers each day.
As your daughter continues to grow over the coming months, you will want to add about 1 ounce to each feeding each month. Another guideline is to feed her 2.5 ounces each day for every pound that she weighs. So, if she weighs 12 pounds at 3 months, she will need approximately 30 ounces each day . . .which would mean providing 4 ounces at 7 feedings each day.
