Paraben-Free Vaginal Freshening. Parabens are antimicrobial substances that are often used as preservatives in the manufacturing of personal care products. An estimated 90% of grocery store items contain parabens such as propylparaben, methylparaben, and ethylparaben. While parabens help to extend the shelf life of the cosmetics, lotions, and other personal care items, they belong to a class of chemicals known as endocrine disrupters.
