Amos Grunebaum, M.D. – Dr. Grunebaum is the Director of Obstetrics and the Chief of Labor & Delivery at New York-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center and is double-board certified in obstetrics/gynecology and maternal-fetal medicine (high-risk pregnancy). He is also full Professor of Clinical ObGyn at the leading Ivy League Medical School in New York and is recognized as one of New York's foremost OB/GYNs as evidenced by his regular inclusion in Castle Connolly's "Top Doctors: New York". Castle Connolly also listed Dr. Grunebaum in the prestigious "America's Top Doctors" guide comprised of the nation's top 1% of medical specialists.
Dr.Grunebaum is the former director of WebMD's Fertility Center and is one of the Internet's leading authorities on fertility and pregnancy (where he has helped thousands of couples conceive through his pioneering educational websites). As a researcher, Dr. Grunebaum is the author or co-author of more than 60 peer-reviewed scientific articles, abstracts and book chapters and he has written a best-selling pregnancy guidebook with Dr. Ruth Westheimer.
Through over thirty years of medical practice, Dr. Grunebaum has personally delivered more than 3,000 babies and supervised more than 10,000 deliveries. As part of Fairhaven Health's research and development team, Dr. Grunebaum is responsible for the innovative and highly-regarded Pregnancy Plus, FertilAid, and FertileCM formulas. His FertilAid for Men formula was recently shown, in a double-blind clinical study, to be effective in improving key male fertility parameters, including sperm motility and count.
Joanna Ellington, PhD – Joanna Ellington, PhD, is an internationally recognized scientist in the area of sexual medicine and sperm physiology. Dr. Ellington was awarded the
prestigious Young Andrologist Award by her peers from around the world, in recognition of her groundbreaking research into sperm survival and function. Dr.
Ellington's research into the role of arabinogalactan in protecting sperm cell function led her to invent Pre-Seed®, the world's first
fertility-friendly lubricant for trying-to-conceive couples.
Her research and expertise have been featured in several national news stories, including her leading role in the National Geographic documentary, The Great Sperm Race. She is the author of Slippery When Wet: One Woman's Journey Through the Mystery of Sex.
With over 75 peer-reviewed publications to her name, Dr. Ellington's primary areas of research includes post-ejaculation sperm storage in the Fallopian Tube, as well as how sperm DNA (genetic material) is damaged by environmental toxins, medications, and current assisted reproduction methods. Recently, her work has also focused on public education and advocacy to help people understand new advances in sexual medicine and sexual health at her website SexScienceandNature.com. She has had numerous featured blogs on women's health at BlogHer, as well as other media channels.
Munson, M.S. – Suzanne Munson's passion for natural health
and whole foods nutrition led her to Bastyr University, one of the world's
leading academic centers for natural health sciences. After earning a
Masters of Science in Nutrition, she completed the required coursework,
internship and exam to become a Registered Dietician. Suzanne has served
as adjunct faculty at Bastyr University, as clinic supervisor at the Bastyr
University Natural Health Clinic, and has published several articles on
nutrition and natural products.
Professionally, Suzanne has worked with the American Institute of Biosocial and Medical Research whose clients include Natrol, Country Life and Costco (in-house Kirkland brand). She has extensive experience within the health supplement field working as a consultant to the natural products industry, specializing in product formulations and consumer education.
Helen Anderson, RN, CLE – Helen has an international reputation as being a leader in innovative breastfeeding products. She studied nursing at Oregon Health and Sciences University and received her Lactation Education teaching credential from Oregonís top program. Helenís patented products have been used by women around the globe to help them breastfeed longer and more successfully. Helen has published several articles on breastfeeding, milk supply and milk storage.
Through programs she developed, Helen has worked with federal programs, including WIC and local health departments, to increase breastfeeding rates in the most vulnerable populations in the US. She is an advocate for human milk banking and has donated several hundred ounces of her own milk to milk banks to nourish hospitalized infants.
With a focus on sustainable materials, durable products and local manufacturing, Helen maintains her commitment to minimize environmental impact in every way. In her own community, Helen works with a group of doctors and nurses to provide free health care to anyone in need.
Dr. Kathleen Marinelli, MD, IBCLC, FABM, FAAP – Dr. Marinelli is an internationally recognized expert in the field of Human Lactation. A graduate of Cornell University School of Medicine, she also served as a pediatric intern, resident, nephrology fellow and neonatology fellow at Children's National Medical Center, George Washington University, in Washington DC. She is currently an Associate Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine, and is a neonatologist and Director of Lactation Support Services at Connecticut Children's Medical Center in Hartford, CT.
Dr. Marinelli was in the first group of 20 physicians to be recognized with the prestigious designation of "Fellow of the Academy of Breastfeeding Medicine" (FABM) and later served six years on its Board of Directors. She is a Charter member of the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) Section on Breastfeeding, previously serving as both the Chairs of its Membership and Legislative Committees, and since 2000 as the AAP Connecticut Chapter Breastfeeding Coordinator. In her role as Chair of the CT Section of the AAP Breastfeeding Medicine Committee, she was instrumental in drafting and passing comprehensive breastfeeding in the workplace legislation in 2001.
Dr. Marinelli recently authored the first complete chapter on breastfeeding in a major neonatology textbook and has written numerous research articles. A long-time believer in the use of pasteurized donor human milk when a supplement to mother's own milk is needed, she has been actively involved in the start-up of the New England Mother's Milk Bank, and serves as its Medical Director.
Even while volunteering for a number of breastfeeding organizations, working directly with breastfeeding families and lecturing to medical professionals, she still manages to spend time with her 4 children, helps with local community service projects, dotes on her yellow Labrador retriever, plays with her two rescue cats, and occasionally knits or reads for fun!
Dr. Chris D. Meletis – Dr. Meletis is an internationally recognized naturopathic physician, an accomplished author, and respected educator in the field of natural medicine. Dr. Meletis was honored as the 'Naturopathic Physician of the Year' in 2003, by the American Association of Naturopathic Physicians for his commitment to education and helping those in need. His mission is simply, "changing the world's health, one person at a time".
He has authored 14 books on subjects ranging from natural medicine interactions to fertility enhancement and has published over 80 articles in publications such as Natural Health and Natural Pharmacy. Dr. Meletis has served as the Dean of Naturopathic Medicine and Chief Medical Officer for the National College of Naturopathic Medicine (NCNM) for seven years and later as the school's Senior Science Officer. He sits on several medical advisory boards and has worked with Oregon Health and Science University on a grant from the National Institute of Health to further educate MD graduates on natural medicine.
Demonstrating sincere compassion for the welfare of others, Dr. Meletis opened 16 community clinics that offer care for families without health insurance. These clinics offer a variety of services and accommodate 16,000 patient visits annually for those who otherwise couldn't afford medical care.
Dr. Meletis consults with the nutraceutical industry, advising on various issues including efficacy, safety, and compliance.
Davis, Ph.D., RYT – Anna Davis has a doctorate in Physiology
and Biophysics from the University of Washington where she has taught
Physiology, studied the role of electrical activity in embryo development
and co-authored educational software to teach cell physiology, now one
of the leading educational simulation packages in neurophysiology used
on campuses worldwide (NerveWorks). Her scientific research is published
in top tier academic journals including Journal of Neuroscience and Journal
of Physiology. Dr. Davis is also a certified yoga instructor.
Dr. Davis' passion is the cross pollination of Western science with the ancient wisdom of yoga, using concepts from both to promote health and happiness. She recently completed a yoga DVD that incorporates scientifically proven yoga and relaxation techniques to promote optimal reproductive health for couples with fertility challenges, Bend, Breathe and Conceive. She holds yoga/science workshops and is developing a research program similar to those run by Harvard's Benson-Henry Institute for Mind-Body Medicine where contemplative practices are used in conjunction with Western medicine and scientific insights to develop programs to promote health.
