A comprehensive postnatal multivitamin designed to meet the unique nutritional needs of nursing women

To maintain health and produce nutritious breast milk, nursing moms need to be sure to eat a well-balanced diet, stay adequately hydrated and get plenty of rest. But, many experts agree that even doing all these things might not be enough to ensure that moms and babies stay healthy. As a result, doctors recommend that nursing moms supplement their diets with a good multivitamin. Often, a new mom will simply continue taking the prenatal vitamin she used during her pregnancy. Unfortunately, however, most prenatal vitamins do not contain enough of the specific nutrients that lactating women need to ensure health of both mother and baby.

Endorsed by nationally-recognized lactation expert Kathleen Marinelli, MD, Nursing Postnatal provides comprehensive vitamin and mineral support, including 100% Daily Value of several vitamins and minerals, and extra amounts of key vitamins known to be especially important for lactating women, including Vitamin D and the B vitamins.

In recognition of a growing body of research that points to widespread Vitamin D deficiency among adults and children, Nursing Postnatal includes 700% Daily Value of Vitamin D (2800 IU). Once believed to be important only for bone health, recent research has revealed the critical role that Vitamin D plays in the prevention and treatment of a wide array of conditions, including  high blood pressure, osteoporosis, depression, obesity, seasonal affective disorder, prostate cancer, lung cancer, breast cancer, diabetes, rickets, irritable bowel syndrome, multiple sclerosis, and rheumatoid arthritis. Although the current Daily Value for Vitamin D is set at only 400 IU, many experts are concerned that this amount grossly underestimates our need for Vitamin D and are recommending that all people, and especially lactating women, increase their daily intake of this key nutrient.  By providing 700% Daily Value of Vitamin D, Nursing Postnatal helps to increase circulating levels of Vitamin D in nursing women, thereby ensuring that the breast milk produced by these women will have enough Vitamin D to prevent suboptimal Vitamin D status in their growing babies.

Nursing Postnatal also contains 200% Daily Value of essential B vitamins, including thiamin, riboflavin, niacin, Vitamin B6 and Vitamin B12. The complex of B vitamins aids in energy production, the proper function of the immune system and nervous system, and in the production of red and white blood cells. Vegetarian and vegan mothers may be at increased risk for deficiencies of vitamin B-12 because it is naturally found only in animal products. Folic acid continues to be important during nursing to aid in healthy cell production.

Similar to Nursing Blend, Nursing Postnatal contains a full complement of vitamins and minerals in just the right amounts to keep mom and baby healthy, but does not contain the herbal blend found in Nursing Blend. This breastfeeding multivitamin is intended for nursing moms looking for nutritional support who have no concerns about the quantity of the breast milk they are producing.

Nursing PostNatal Review
By Paula from Wynnum, Queensland, Australia on October 16, 2011
Hi - I took your Pregnancy Plus during my pregnancy and felt great! Thankyou. I am now suffering extremely low blood pressure while breastfeeding and have noticed that the pregnancy multi contained 100% of daily intake of sodium. Does your nursing blend contain salt/assist in some other way for this need?
By Customer Service on October 18, 2011

Answer:
Thanks for your feedback on our Pregnancy Plus product . . .we are happy to hear that you like the product. Nursing Blend provides comprehensive vitamin and mineral support necessary for nursing moms, along with a blend of herbs that can promote breast milk production. As for your question about sodium, the Nursing Blend product does not contain any sodium, and, actually, the Pregnancy Plus product contains only a very, very small amount of sodium (as crosscarmellose sodium, a flow agent used in the manufacturing). So, we encourage you to consult your physician about ways to manage your low blood pressure while breastfeeding.

Can these vitamins be taken along with the Nursing supplements? Or is it design to be one or the other?
By Customer Service on January 25, 2012

Answer:
We recommend that you take either Nursing Blend or Nursing Postnatal. Our Nursing Postnatal is a prenatal vitamin specifically formulated for nursing moms. Nursing Blend contains this complete prenatal supplementation as well as an herbal blend to help increase the production of milk, therefore, you wouldn't need to add the Nursing Postnatal as well.

Great Postnatal Multivitamin
January 3, 2014
I'm tandem nursing my two year old and seven month old. I have truly noticed a difference after taking these for several weeks. The abundance of vit D was especially beneficial. Before taking these I would often feel fatigued and tired despite getting plenty of sleep. Which I suspect was related to a vit D or iron deficiency. This and the Cal Mag supplement were are great addition to my diet. The Cal Mag are a little larger than the postnatal, however, both are easily digested.

Very good vitamin supplement .but not mineral...
December 4, 2013
This is very good vitamin supplement .I had Vit D deficiency now no more. .but I find it misses Calcium Selenium and other minerals Hence need separate supplement. I do not know if it is vegetable based supplemnt or not.need that update to me and on website. I am from India and got it thru my friend.Would like good rates for this in India also as there is scarcity of postnatal supplements in India..
Merchant Response:
Thank you for your feedback on Nursing Postnatal. Please note that Nursing Postnatal does contain ideal levels of minerals essential to nursing women (including selenium). Calcium is typically taken as a separate supplement as it is a very large, bulky mineral. Thanks again.

excellent vitamin for breastfeeding
October 11, 2011
I am very happy I found this vitamin! I was looking for something for nursing as opposed to a regular vitamin since I know that vitamin d is so important. I have no issues with producing enough milk (if anything, there may be too much!) but I really want to be sure I'm providing best nutrition to my baby. I brought the bottle to show my doctor when I went in for my appt and she thought it looked great, too! Thanks for the wonderful product!
Pros:
doesn't upset stomach contains all the vitamins a nursing mom and baby need
