Contains a full complement of vitamins and minerals in just the right amounts to keep mom and baby healthy, but unlike Nursing Blend does not increase the quantity of breastmilk produced.
A Comprehensive Postnatal Multivitamin Designed to Meet the Unique Nutritional Needs of Nursing Women
To maintain health and produce nutritious breast milk, nursing moms need to be sure to eat a well-balanced diet, stay adequately hydrated and get plenty of rest. But, many experts agree that even doing all these things might not be enough to ensure that moms and babies stay healthy. As a result, doctors recommend that nursing moms supplement their diets with a good multivitamin. Often, a new mom will simply continue taking the prenatal vitamin she used during her pregnancy. Unfortunately, however, most prenatal vitamins do not contain enough of the specific nutrients that lactating women need to ensure health of both mother and baby.
Endorsed by nationally-recognized lactation expert Kathleen Marinelli, MD, Nursing Postnatal provides comprehensive vitamin and mineral support, including 100% Daily Value of several vitamins and minerals, and extra amounts of key vitamins known to be especially important for lactating women, including Vitamin D and the B vitamins.MoreLess
In recognition of a growing body of research that points to widespread Vitamin D deficiency among adults and children, Nursing Postnatal includes 700% Daily Value of Vitamin D (2800 IU). Once believed to be important only for bone health, recent research has revealed the critical role that Vitamin D plays in the prevention and treatment of a wide array of conditions, including high blood pressure, osteoporosis, depression, obesity, seasonal affective disorder, prostate cancer, lung cancer, breast cancer, diabetes, rickets, irritable bowel syndrome, multiple sclerosis, and rheumatoid arthritis. Although the current Daily Value for Vitamin D is set at only 400 IU, many experts are concerned that this amount grossly underestimates our need for Vitamin D and are recommending that all people, and especially lactating women, increase their daily intake of this key nutrient. By providing 700% Daily Value of Vitamin D, Nursing Postnatal helps to increase circulating levels of Vitamin D in nursing women, thereby ensuring that the breast milk produced by these women will have enough Vitamin D to prevent suboptimal Vitamin D status in their growing babies.
Nursing Postnatal also contains 200% Daily Value of essential B vitamins, including thiamin, riboflavin, niacin, Vitamin B6 and Vitamin B12. The complex of B vitamins aids in energy production, the proper function of the immune system and nervous system, and in the production of red and white blood cells. Vegetarian and vegan mothers may be at increased risk for deficiencies of vitamin B-12 because it is naturally found only in animal products. Folic acid continues to be important during nursing to aid in healthy cell production.
Similar to Nursing Blend, Nursing Postnatal contains a full complement of vitamins and minerals in just the right amounts to keep mom and baby healthy, but does not contain the herbal blend found in Nursing Blend. This breastfeeding multivitamin is intended for nursing moms looking for nutritional support who have no concerns about the quantity of the breast milk they are producing.

Is this vitamin vegan friendly?
No, the Nursing Postnatal is vegetarian but not vegan. The vitamin D contained in the supplement comes from lanolin found in sheep’s wool, and as such can not be classified as vegan.
Do you use this multivitamin and still take prenatal vitamins as well?
No need to use a prenatal with use. The Nursing Postnatal provides you with the proper vitamin blend to meet your nutritional requirements while breastfeeding.
Will this help increase my breast milk production?
The Nursing Postnatal Multivitamin is a comprehensive supplement containing vitamins and minerals, but unlike Nursing Blend, it does not increase the quantity of breast milk produced. If you are looking to increase your breast milk product, I’d recommend you try Nursing Blend instead.
Does this vitamin contain any soy or dairy…even the oil or lecithin
Unfortunately, Nursing Postnatal is not soy-free. All apologies!
Could use both Nursing Blend and Nursing Postnatal?
We would recommend you take either Nursing Blend or Nursing Postnatal. Nursing Blend contains all the vitamins in Nursing Postnatal plus an herbal component. Therefore, you wouldn’t want to take both!
Can I take the DHA capsules with the Nursing Postnatal multivitamin? Should I continue taking the DHA while breastfeeding?
Yes, you can combine a DHA capsule along with the Nursing PostNatal – and it’s highly recommended to take an Omega3 supplement while breastfeeding.
How long do you take the postnatal for? As long as you are nursing, then switch to a normal women multi-vitamin?
We would recommend you take the Nursing Postnatal throughout the entire time you breastfeed. Once you discontinue breastfeeding, you’re welcome to switch to a multivitamin.
Is this product gluten free?
Yes, this product is gluten-free.
If you start with the Nursing Postnatal, then find yourself needing the Nursing Blend supplement would it be ok to switch, even if it is as soon as a month after you start the Nursing Postnatal?
Yes, it would be perfectly fine to switch at any point.
What is the difference between Nursing Blend and Nursing Postnatal? I am a nursing mom (son is 8 was old) and am having no issues with milk production or anything – just looking for a good vitamin. Am still finishing up prenatals that I took while pregnant…
Nursing Postnatal is a vitamin specifically targeted towards nursing moms. Nursing Blend is a complete postnatal as well but has the additional herbal components to help with milk production. If you’re just looking for a postnatal vitamin, this would be the product we’d recommend.
Does this product have gelatin in it?
No it does not, it is a veggie capsule.
Can these vitamins be taken along with the nursing supplements? Or is it design to be one or the other?
We recommend that you take either Nursing Blend or Nursing Postnatal. Our Nursing Postnatal is a prenatal vitamin specifically formulated for nursing moms. Nursing Blend contains this complete prenatal supplementation as well as an herbal blend to help increase the production of milk, therefore, you wouldn’t need to add the Nursing Postnatal as well.
