About IsoFresh Balancing Gel & Natural Douche Alternative

IsoFresh Balancing Gel Stops Unwanted Vaginal Odor and Supports Bacterial Balance. IsoFresh Gel is a water-based, paraben-free feminine freshening gel that eliminates unwanted vaginal odors. Apply this bioadhesive gel every few days or whenever you want to feel more fresh and clean.

IsoFresh Eliminates Odor Per Clinical Study of 30 Women Over 30 Days. Ideally, the vagina has an acidic (low) pH to protect the friendly bacteria that fight off infections, including sexually transmitted diseases. Maintaining low pH also keeps unwanted smells and irritation away. A recent clinical study evaluated the link between vaginal pH and feminine odor. IsoFresh Gel lowered the vaginal pH of study participants after just one application and over 30 days of using the product according to package directions. Over 95% of women using IsoFresh every 3 days for a month reported a decrease in vaginal odor concerns and a “more fresh and clean” feeling. A significant decrease in concern about feminine odor was seen among the study participants after just one application of IsoFresh. The women in the study also liked that IsoFresh is easy to use and 90% said it isn’t messy and won’t leak out. (Rizk B and Torres E. Biocompatibility and efficacy of an isotonic buffered gel for vaginal pH. Fertility and Sterility, September 2018, vol 110 (no 45), e285.)

Paraben-Free Vaginal Freshening. Parabens are antimicrobial substances that are often used as preservatives in the manufacturing of personal care products. An estimated 90% of grocery store items contain parabens such as propylparaben, methylparaben, and ethylparaben. While parabens help to extend the shelf life of the cosmetics, lotions, and other personal care items, they belong to a class of chemicals known as endocrine disrupters. Parabens are able to mimic hormones like estrogen which allows them to bind to estrogen receptors on cells and in turn prevent real estrogen from attaching. The Environmental Working Group rates ethylparaben and methylparaben as moderate hazards with a ranking of 3-4 and propylparaben as a high hazard with a ranking of 9 on the hazard scale. Unlike other freshening gels which contain parabens, IsoFresh Gel provides “Do No Harm” freshening with a light, clean, water-based, isotonic formula that is free of parabens, oils, glycerin, hormones, and artificial fragrance.

Terms to Know When Choosing Feminine Care Products. pH – measured on a scale from 0-14 with 0 being most acidic and 14 being most basic. While some pH fluctuation is natural and necessary as the vagina comes into contact with fluids such as blood and semen, too low a pH in the vagina (<3.5) can actually turn off lactobacillus production (good bacteria) required to keep the vagina in a balanced state, or over time even lead to a chronic infection (vaginosis).. The WHO has stated that vaginal products approaching pH 3 should not be used in the vagina. Isotonic – also referred to as the ion or salt concentration. Isotonic is the measure of whether two solutions have the same concentration of salt. Vaginal balancing gels that are hypo– or hypertonic (with too low or too high of a salt concentration relative to vaginal tissues) will cause water to be pushed into, or sucked out of, the vaginal cells. This forced movement of water changes vaginal cell shape and biology, leading to irritation, tissue damage, cell death, mucus dehydration, and increased risk of bacterial infections or STDs. Isotonic products (like IsoFresh) are perfectly matched to the salt concentration in the body, and as a result, cause no net movement of water. Toxic Chemicals Used for Viscosity – used for thickness and moisture. Glycerol (glycerin) and propylene glycol, for example, are commonly used humectants that can keep gels moist and improve the consistency. These small, penetrating chemicals can cross the vaginal barrier and be extremely toxic to vaginal cells and friendly vaginal bacteria.

Questions you may be asking yourself

I’m not able to puncture the safety seal on the tube with the lid. How do I remove the safety seal?

To open the tube of IsoFresh, simply remove the silver safety seal with your hands, using the small flap.

Can I can continue to have intercourse while using IsoFresh?

Yes, most definitely. You may continue to have intercourse while using IsoFresh. In fact, using IsoFresh can help your vagina cleanse itself and maintain a healthy pH after being exposed to semen (which has a pH of 7, while your vagina should stay at around 4). Please note, however, that IsoFresh is not intended for use during your fertile window – if you are trying to get pregnant. As you approach ovulation, you will begin to secrete fertile-quality cervical fluid. Fertile quality cervical fluid has higher pH than other vaginal secretions, as it is meant to match the pH of semen. Sperm will die if the pH in the vagina is too low, so that fertile quality cervical fluid needs to have a high pH to protect the sperm when you are actively trying to conceive.

Will this help with smells associated with bacterial vaginosis? I seem to have near constant BV and am desperate for a solution.

IsoFresh is intended to help maintain a healthy vaginal pH (4-4.5), and support a healthy vaginal ecosystem (that is a favorable balance of good bacteria to bad bacteria), both of which help support the vagina’s self-cleaning mechanisms. In doing so, IsoFresh helps to eliminate those unwanted feminine odors that are sometimes caused by bacterial vaginosis and yeast infections. ** If you have recurring vaginal discharge, persistent odor, itching, or discomfort, please be sure to contact your doctor.

How does IsoFresh differ from a regular douche?

IsoFresh is a vaginal freshening gel – not a douche! Douching involves completely washing your vagina with a liquid, many of which contain harsh chemicals (like paraben preservatives). Douching disrupts the vaginal ecosystem – washing out the good bacteria as well as the bad bacteria, and can increase the rates of vaginal infections, like bacterial vaginosis and yeast infections. IsoFresh is a gel that is inserted the vagina. It has the same pH as a healthy vagina and supports the vagina’s self-cleaning mechanisms. It is paraben-free and is isotonic, which means that the salt concentration of the gel is the same as healthy vaginal tissue. Unlike many douches and freshening gels that are hypertonic, IsoFresh will not dehydrate vaginal cells. Instead, IsoFresh keeps vaginal cells properly hydrated.

How often can I use Isofresh?

We recommend using IsoFresh once every 3 days OR on occasion as needed for feminine freshening. If you have more frequent concerns about feminine odor, we recommend using IsoFresh Probiotic along with IsoFresh Balancing Vaginal Gel to help to promote a healthy vaginal ecosystem.

Should I expect discharge or leakage after insertion?

IsoFresh has bioadhesive properties, and one of the things women like most about IsoFresh is that it stays put after application and doesn’t leak out. Many women do report an increase in odorless, white discharge (looks a bit like wet tissue paper) following the first few applications of IsoFresh- this discharge is made up of exfoliated cells. This discharge is a healthy, normal part of vaginal self-cleaning, and will diminish over time with repeated use of IsoFresh.

How may applications does one tube of IsoFresh provide?

IsoFresh contains approximately 12 applications per tube. The recommended dosage for each application is 2gm, but feel free to vary the amount between 1 gram and 2 grams based on your individual needs.

Can IsoFresh be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding?

We recommend you consult your physician prior to use when pregnant or breastfeeding.

Can IsoFresh be used to treat BV or an infection?

IsoFresh is not intended to cure or treat an existing infection. The product is working to help balance your vaginal pH levels, which can help to eliminate unwanted vaginal odors, including those associated with BV. Because IsoFresh has the same pH level as a healthy vagina and supports the vagina’s self cleaning mechanisms, many women who use IsoFresh report a decrease in the occurrence of vaginal infections – like BV or yeast infections. For additional support in maintaining a healthy vaginal ecosystem, we also recommend IsoFresh Probiotic.
