Accuracy and Safety - Mercury-free Glass Basal Thermometer
An innovation in preconception and fertility products, the Fairhaven Health Glass Basal Thermometer is a mercury-free and non-toxic alternative to mercury thermometers, that is designed specifically for Basal Body Temperature (BBT) charting.
Our glass basal thermometer is family- and earth-friendly, yet is certified for accuracy – critical in BBT charting. This safe, easy-to-use basal thermometer comes with its own magnifying lens built into a no-break carrying case.
This glass basal thermometer contains absolutely no mercury, using a safe, liquid alloy instead. Concerns about mercury have been featured prominently in the news, and many states are requiring that mercury-containing thermometers be recalled by manufacturers due to toxicity and related health hazards, particularly for pregnant and trying-to-conceive women.

Overall Rating for Mercury-Free Glass Basal Thermometer
Lovely product, but easily breakable.

I used it to chart my BBT for practicing the Fertility Awareness Method of birth control. I love the glass thermometer much better than my electric one. Unfortunately, as I was shaking it down one evening it slipped out of my hands and shattered. They are a little expensive, so I haven't been able to buy another one. Pros:
Accurate readings and more aesthetically pleasing than electric thermometers.Cons:
Easily breakable.I would recommend this item to a friend.
Love this thermometer

I tried a bunch of different basal body thermometers when I was first charting a few years ago. I tried various digital ones, and was always a bit unsettled about it not knowing when the batteries started to die and when the readings became less accurate. This mercury-free battery-free thermometer takes out the guess work and lasts well for years. I have one at home and one for travel, and trust them fully. Glad they continue to be made! I refer all my natural fertility awareness friends to this exact thermometer.Pros:
—accurate results in 5 minutes—good carrying travel case, very sturdy
—no batteries, works forever
—cute and simple
Cons:
—not as fast as a digitalI would recommend this item to a friend.
these are awesome!

Good accurate measurements. You do have to shake down the mercury after each use, which isn't specified in the instructions. Old-fashioned reliability.
